We absolutely love a hot, creamy cup of hot chocolate. Whether we are camping, hunting, sitting around the fire or at the breakfast table, we love a creamy cup of hot chocolate.
Because we enjoy drinking hot chocolate, I was searching for a healthier alternative to the store bought versions. And I was incredibly surprised at how easy and tasty it was to make our own hot chocolate mix from scratch.

Can this recipe be made in bulk?
Yes! I have large one gallon sized jars that I use for our hot chocolate mix! Usually I multiply this recipe approximately 4X. But this original recipe should fit into a 1 liter or 1 quart sized jar.
TIP: Try to use a wide more sized jar! Because then you or your kids can easily get to the bottom of the jar!
Can you adjust the sugar in this mix?
Yes! I prefer ours to be less sweet. But you can easy adjust between 1 cup to 2 cups of confectioners (icing) sugar per batch. Or you can make a less sweet version and add sweeteners with each cup you make. My husband has a bit of a sweet tooth, so he likes to add a touch of honey.
How long can this hot chocolate mix be stored?
This hot chocolate mix can last 6 months in an air tight container. If I wanted to keep it longer, would store it in the freezer to keep the flavors fresh. But honestly, this hot chocolate mix does not last long in our house. Maybe 2 to 3 months.
